Left Home Day 4

Monday was just like Friday except we got up slower and no one made Breakfast… we had to fend for ourselves. :(

Sara's Note

Around 9:00 Sara came out with a notice that by lunch the kids had to memorize 3 verses. Several of the kids thought they could go without lunch and some knew they couldn’t and were in tears.

After Suzy and Zac finished school we asked Winnie how much more she had left. She said that she was finished. It finally came out that she had done ONE page because her Mom had said “she could do as much as she wanted” and that’s all she wanted to do. We sent her back to do a little more school.
At one point during the day we found Zac in a bush spearing slugs… we are sooooo thankful for boys… At another point my Mom said that someone should go out and see where or what Zac was doing. I went out and I found him lifting the metal lid to the septic tank. I asked Winnie if Zac was like this all the time. She said yes, but Taylor usually keeps an eye on him.

Ashlyn resorted to having Zac help her bake Brownies.

Ashlyn made a really wonderful supper…with my help. She (we) made sweet and sour chicken, vegetables, rice, and these cheese things that taste just like “cheese its” (in our opinion). It was a lot of fun cooking with Ashlyn. Everyone has a different way they cook. Ashlyn cooks for looks while I cook to get it done. So it was quite a challenge to make the cheese things look nice but cooked in time to eat. For example: When I make those cheese things I usually roll them out and cut. But when Ashlyn makes them she rolls them out, trims the edges, then cuts them out. So that’s what I did.

After supper Mom delegated the dishes to Wesley and Zac… Next morning the dishes were still not done…

The kids had fun playing Pit. I stayed out of it (do you have any idea how wild that game can get?).

It looks like our rainy season has begun. Last night it rained and tonight it poured. We are all very grateful because the rain cools everything off.

Before going to bed Winnie and I were brushing our teeth and she asked if in America they used bottled water to brush their teeth. Note: In Kenya because of the uncertainty that they will actually treat the water we usually use bottled water just in case the water wasn’t treated. I told her no they even drink from tap water. She was really surprised! (I think it is about time for a furlough for those kids.)
